If you are browsing for a puppy please be vigilant and don’t get scammed. Never pay anything before physically seeing a pup with its mother. It could be an internet-created advert to a bogus address. Check the selling websites, to see if they categorise the ‘breeders’ for what they do. I know one in particular will not allow anyone to advertise if they do have a licence! Therefore only promoting ‘backyard’ breeders! There are some very thorough ones now. I appreciate www.puppies.co.uk scrutinise sellers and rating them up to 5* depending on what they do: KC reg/worming/flea treated/licensed/insurance given etc…  Please read The Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals)
(England) Regulations 2018. PART 5 on page 14 clearly states: Breeding of dogs requires a license if-
8. Either or both of the following—
(a) breeding three or more litters of puppies in any 12 months;
(b) breeding dogs and advertising a business of selling dogs.

To intend to sell any puppy from a litter you want to breed, you must first get a license. A license is not only for your local Council’s coffers. It is to regulate and monitor the health and welfare of all breeders animals and activities as the title states. If you are researching for a puppy, start with understanding the regulations. You will quickly spot the issues with anything untoward.
